City Administration Intern

Position Overview
The Records Management & City Administration Intern provides students with hands-on experience in municipal government operations while supporting the City of Adelanto with records organization, scanning, and document management.
Interns will assist with maintaining and digitizing city records while learning how local government functions. In addition to records management responsibilities, interns will gain exposure to the broader operations of city government through departmental tours and participation in civic meetings.
This internship is designed to introduce students to public service careers and the wide range of roles within municipal government.
Key Responsibilities
Records Management Support
Assist with scanning, digitizing, and organizing city records and documents.
Support the maintenance of accurate filing systems for physical and electronic records.
Help organize archived documents to improve accessibility and compliance with records retention requirements.
Ensure proper labeling, indexing, and storage of files.
Administrative Assistance
Support administrative staff with document preparation and record tracking.
Assist with data entry and file organization.
Help maintain organized workspaces and document systems.
Government Operations Exposure
Attend at least one City Council meeting to observe the legislative process and public decision-making.
Participate in guided tours of various city departments to learn about municipal services and career pathways.
Engage with city staff to gain insight into roles in public administration, planning, public works, finance, and community services.

Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a college or university
Must be a resident of Adelanto

Ability to handle documents responsibly and maintain confidentiality
Work Environment
This internship is primarily based in a city office setting and may include occasional visits to other municipal facilities as part of departmental tours and learning activities.
