COMPENSATION: $20/hr - Part-time (1-2 days per week)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Cyber Defense Corps is to develop a pipeline for students to discover, explore, train for, and eventually launch careers in the cybersecurity field. Nationally, we are facing a severe shortage of cybersecurity professionals, with less than 7 people available to fill every 10 currently available positions, an all-time low supply-to-demand ratio. Hundreds of thousands of vacancies currently exist in jobs critical to our national defense, protecting infrastructure systems, and keeping personal information private. (cyberseek.org)
Tomorrow’s Talent Cyber Defense Corps pipeline makes a progressive cybersecurity program easy with a turnkey solution for supporting cyber-interested students on their way to a high-demand/high-wage career. Schools that contract for the CDC Cadet program allow students to earn access to all CDC levels at no cost regardless of the school’s ability to hire instructors or offer formal cybersecurity instruction.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
CDC Coaches will have classroom and as well as hands-on experience in the technologies the team works with. New coaches will shadow the more experienced coaches in this area. Coaches will demonstrate instructional skills through their ability to design and deliver effective training sessions and activities and will have input in the design and modification of certain lesson plans and activities. Coaches will demonstrate the ability to connect activities to the latest industry trends and technologies, constantly reminding students that these activities directly correlate to what they would be doing in the workforce is essential.
PERSONAL SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Members of the Cyber Defense Corps have a responsibility to uphold a standard of personal and social behavior. Being a member of the Defense Corps is a step toward positions with organizations that will only consider hiring those who can pass background checks, drug screenings, credit checks, and multiple reference checks or more. To this end members of the Defense Corps are held to the following standards:

…will maintain the highest levels of honesty and integrity at all times and hold other Corps members to the same standard.
…will act in good faith when given access to secure systems, changing and altering nothing without approval from my Defense Corps Professional Expert.
…will maintain a drug-free environment for myself and for the other members of the Cyber Defense Corps.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with CDC Coordinator to bring real-world insights into the program;
Engage students with dynamic instruction, including role-playing, visual aids, hands-on activities, and discussion groups;
Foster a collaborative learning environment to encourage students to work together on cybersecurity challenges;
Evaluate students' performance on activities and discuss outcomes and next steps with the CDC coordinator;
Teach students a variety of technical concepts, including networking, systems security, cyber operations and defense, and virtual reality;
Instruct students on the importance of personal online safety, the dangers of information sharing, and how to be a good digital citizen;
Plan and execute cyber activities, exercises, and other engaging aspects of Cybersecurity;
Assist in setting up and maintaining activities and challenges;
Provide guidance and support to participants and address concerns that they may have during the sessions;
Act as a role model for students by exhibiting responsible and respectful behavior;
Be prepared to handle emergencies and follow Tomorrow’s Talent and school campus protocols for safety and security.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Pathway Participation in a High School, Community College, or 4-Year University Cybersecurity Pathway program.
Experience in Cybersecurity from an accredited K-12 or Post-Secondary Cybersecurity Pathway; identifying and correcting Cybersecurity vulnerabilities; training others, especially those without expertise, on Cybersecurity topics; working with a team and under the supervision of a qualified expert; in a group environment working with a diverse group of customers and co-workers and independently completing tasks;
Skill in the use of standard office equipment (telephone, computer, printer, calculator, etc.) general office procedures, English usage, and punctuation; are required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; and developing effective working relationships.
Knowledge of Cybersecurity best practices and procedures, as well as computer operations and software applications; office application software; and practicing cultural competency while working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals;
Ability to type at a net corrected speed of 30 words per minute, communicate effectively with a variety of individuals in written and verbal form, establish and meet deadlines, maintain accurate records, exercise sound judgment, and interpret and communicate policies and procedures; is required to perform quality checks of services provided; routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data; work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; communicate effectively with diverse groups; use collaborative problem-solving methods; meet deadlines and schedules; set priorities; work as part of a team; quickly analyze situations to make quick and accurate decisions; and maintain confidentiality.
Physical Abilities include sitting for extended periods, reaching, fine manual dexterity, pulling, talking/hearing, and near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
