About the Role
Are you a creative and motivated young adult looking to start a career in social media marketing? National CORE is offering a Social Media Management Internship — a hands-on, in-person opportunity where you’ll work alongside our Social Media Manager and Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Communications to gain real-world experience in content creation, platform management, and digital engagement strategy.
This 10-week, paid internship averages 12 hours per week and is perfect for those who want to learn how social media drives brand awareness, community engagement, and organizational growth.
What You’ll Learn
Over the course of the internship, you will gain foundational and, if eligible, advanced skills in:
Social Media Fundamentals:
Understanding different social media networks and audiences
Creating content for various platforms
Managing and scheduling posts
Amplifying messages across channels
Designing graphics for social media
Basic social media advertising
Interpreting analytics and performance metrics
Advanced Training (based on experience):
Influencer and community engagement strategies
Online customer service and reputation management
Advanced paid advertising strategies
SEO and non-social digital ad techniques
In-depth analytics and reporting
Learning Environment
You’ll also gain insight into:
National CORE’s resident services and programs
Organizational structure and its partnership with Hope Through Housing
The role of marketing in community development and nonprofit operations
Schedule & Expectations
Part-time: 12 hours/week for 10 weeks
Flexible scheduling to accommodate school or another job
Mandatory attendance required for onboarding and select events
Work schedule coordinated with the Social Media Manager and AVP of Marketing
Driving may be required for occasional off-site events
Requirements
Must be eligible to work in California
Must pass a background check
Moderate physical activity (e.g., walking, bending, lifting under 20 lbs)
Comfort working in an office environment with computer and production tools
Compensation & Duration
$23.50–$24.00 per hour, depending on experience
Non-exempt, temporary position
Funded through a state grant authorized from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2027
Employment beyond the internship is not guaranteed and depends on future grant funding
